Melissa Smith, SVP and Head of Operations for Bibby Financial Services North America, now eCapital Commercial Finance, has been recognized by The Commercial Finance Association’s (CFA)Women in Commercial Finance Committee (WICF) for her achievements and leadership within the commercial finance industry.
It’s no secret that there is a gender gap in the finance industry and that as career levels rise, female representation at the executive level declines,” Smith explained. “But women are blazing a trail and it continues to get better. The more we help one another, the more we help ourselves.
With over 15 years of experience in the commercial finance field, Melissa has excelled at a wide variety of roles and responsibilities. Melissa leads an incredibly diverse team as head of operations. She has dedicated much of her time to empowering her team members and encouraging them to excel in their role, as she knows that mentorship is crucial to success.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to meet, work with and learn from some of the most influential women and men in the financial services industry,” she said. “Networking to find and build these contacts – and then forging and maintaining strong relationships with them – is incredibly important
The WICF Committee aims to promote the advancement of women in leadership in the commercial finance industry by providing opportunities for networking, education, and advocacy. The profiling of esteemed women is just one way that WICF is working to share advice and insights with women starting out in the finance industry.
